Artist Statement Winter Goddess

Artist Statement Winter Goddess
Winter Goddess
acrylic on canvas board
16 x 20 inches
by Kathy Poitras
I wanted to express a portentous of Winter, against an abstract starry night sky.
I painted the robe as a Winter scene.  She is a pensive maiden. Considering all that Winter brings in the Northern climate:
Breathtaking beauty amidst the deadly cold.
She is also somehow inspired by my three daughters.
Created in 2016, the original art has long since been sold.
When I painted her I didn't  do very much planning. I  penciled in an outline for her face and robe.   Then I used the color and the brush to bring the concept into my view.  I felt absolute joy working on the robe.  As I added elements, inspiration would strike.
If you are thinking of expressing yourself visually, just do it. Don't worry about what others think. Just do it. Express yourself. There is true joy in that.  The more you do it the easier it gets.
I currently offer Winter Goddess in the form of Extra Large Display Art Cards
and I can also make a custom print on 13 x 19 inch fine art inkjet paper, in my studio, that looks and feels like a watercolor painting.
Please feel free to share this blog with your friends and comment on Winter Goddess.
Also, if you happen to be the owner of the original painting I would love to hear from you. I have lost track of her.  I believe she was purchased as a gift for someone.
