Artists for Happiness

Artists for Happiness

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

At Artists for Happiness, we are dedicated to helping children and adults adopt values they may not have thought about, that can help them navigate the world in these difficult times, using fun art workshops, led by North Vancouver artist, Kathy Poitras.

HOW WE BEGAN

When "The Way to Happiness" came out in 1981, Kathy was impressed with its purpose to help arrest the current moral decline in society and thought it could be a good vehicle to help her arm her own children from bad and ill-intentioned influences.

Using the book, Kathy and Jack raised their children to be able to make good choices and avoid the pitfalls of teenage hood.

When the drama club wanted to go out and get drunk after the play, Kathy's daughters invited them to the clean and sober party at their house.   The point being that Kathy's children were, for the most part, able to not be fooled by those who could profit from their bad choices.

SUCCESS

Kathy used her creativity to indoctrinate her children in the precepts of the book.  Using conversation, coloring and other creative activities to help them.

This empowered them to make positive choices as they were growing up. It helped them realize that there were other options they may have never thought of otherwise.  It strengthened them to be their own advisor, when peer pressure was pushing them into an activity that would harm them.

CHILDREN IN TODAYS WORLD

Children today are under more pressure than when Kathy's children were growing up, and this book is more relevant today than it was then.

WORKSHOPS

Kathy loves helping people and has delivered hundreds of art workshops promoting these values. She started delivering these workshops when covid started, live online, and then after we were able to get together again, live and in person.

HOW TO BOOK A WORKSHOP

  1. Read the book.
  2. Pick three values from the book you would like your students to know.
  3. Based on the three values you selected; we will create a fun and engaging art workshop and present the outline to you.

I love “The Way to Happiness” as it provides the basic knowledge and points for a happy daily life. And further, it provides the workable way to make, and everyone reading it can find hiw own way to better his life and help others attaining it, too. In this society, I do think “The Way to Happiness” is a shining star in the dark sky, give us hope and bring us a bright furure.

The book helped many people to have rules and guidance in life. A mom (also a business woman)tells me she uses the rules in the book to tell her juniors how to do.

I feel Way to Happiness book is a life changing moral code for everyone. The more books distributed, the better the society will be.

Love how your children grow up knowing what decision to make with “The Way to Happiness.” And they were able to influence their peers in better ways. I love the book myself too. I also use what I learned from this book on my niece letting her to help and contribute in the house with little chores: water plant. She is so proud of herself and getting responsibility of being part of the family. Great book!

I really enjoyed this workshop
I really enjoyed this workshop. Learned a lot of new concepts about life through the eight dynamics. Also converting it into art was so fun. Takes a bit of thinking but thanks for some examples . Cathy, you did great on explaining these!
